Program Advisory Committee

 

The Joe Kubert School is proud to list the following individuals as members of its Program Advisory Committee (PAC). Together with their expert guidance and cooperation, the Kubert School is able to train our alumni to secure jobs in the commercial art field.  All the PAC members are well-known luminaries in the various aspects of the Cartoon-Graphics© industry.

 

 

Neal Adams; President of Continuity Studios; employs storyboard artists, designers, illustrators, and 3D animators. Mr. Adams is an award-winning and internationally renowned cartoonist, having worked for comic books and newspaper syndication and advertising illustration for many years prior to his present position. His interpretations of Superman and Batman are still considered definitive. He is also a staunch advocate of cartoonists’ rights. Continuity Studios has hired many JKS alumni.

Kris Adams Stone; Manager of Continuity Studios; employs storyboard artists, designers, illustrators, and 3D animators. She works in close relationship with her father, Neal Adams.

Paul Levitz;
President and Publisher of DC Comics; employs pencilers, inkers, letterers, colorists, writers, production artists, graphic designers and web designers. Mr. Levitz’ beginnings were as a writer and editor for DC Comics before eventually becoming the company’s director and CEO. DC Comics is the oldest existing comic book publisher in the United States and publishes the adventures of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. DC Comics is also part of Time-Warner/AOL, which also owns MAD Magazine, the Cartoon Network, and Warner Brothers Animation (Loony Toons). DC Comics also hires many JKS alumni. DC also sponsors the school’s largest scholarship for students.


Joe Quesada;
Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics; employs pencilers, inkers, letterers, colorists, writers, production artists, and designers. Mr. Quesada is an award-winning and influential artist, cartoonist and editor prior to his present position. Marvel Comics publishes the adventures of Spider-Man, X-Men, Daredevil and the Incredible Hulk. Marvel is one of the two largest comic book publishing companies in the world. Marvel Comics also hires many JKS alumni.


Victor Gorelick; Managing Editor of Archie Comic Publications, Inc.; employs pencilers, inkers, letterers, colorists, writers, production artists, and designers. Archie Comics is one of the oldest comic book publishing companies in the United States, and publish the adventures of Archie, Sabrina the Teenaged Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Many of their creative staff are alumni of the Joe Kubert School.

Stan Madaloni; President of Mada Design, Inc.; employs designers and illustrators for web design, logo design, marketing materials, style guides, packaging, publishing, presentations, and production design. Mr. Madaloni was an art director at the MBW ad agency. He then became a graphic designer for Helix, a graphic design firm unique in its early adoption of computer-based design. Mr. Madaloni then founded Mada Design in 1989. In 1990, Mada began doing design work for Topps, converting their card design system from conventional to digital methods. Finally Mr. Madaloni, an alumnus of the Joe Kubert School, sponsors the second largest scholarship fund at the school, awarded annually to a student in memory of a former Mada employee.


Jeremy Ross; Director of New Product Development for Tokyopop Media.; employs pencilers, inkers, letterers, colorists, writers, production artists, and designers. TOKYOPOP Inc. is the leading North American publisher of manga, the fastest growing segment within the publishing industry. With exclusive rights to hundreds of licensed and original book, video and music properties, the company has rapidly become a media convergence leader. TOKYOPOP has millions of books in print and publishes many hit manga series, including Love Hina, Chobits, Rave Master, Initial D, GTO, Battle Royale and Cowboy Bebop. The company pioneered Cine-Manga™, releasing such titles as Finding Nemo, SpongeBob SquarePants, Lizzie McGuire, Astro Boy and Transformers Armada. TOKYOPOP television properties include Rave Master, GTO and Reign: The Conqueror. The company has also expanded its presence as a licensor, representing merchandising rights for Rave Master, Initial D, Stray Sheep and others.


Tony Tabtong; Animation Supervisor for Charlex, Inc.; employs animators, storyboard artists, designers, etc. for TV commercials, movie trailers and everything in-between. It is self-described as a “digital design atelier”.  They list among their clients such companies as Cingular, Coca-Cola, Kellogs, FedEx, McDonalds, etc.
