School Information

In 1976, Joe and Muriel Kubert founded The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. The school is dedicated to aspiring cartoonists who are dedicated to becoming professionals in cartooning, comic book, and the general field of commercial art.

Hundreds of the school's graduates have gained acclaim and admiration in high profile positions in comic books, advertising agencies, computer color and separation, animation, advertising and illustration.

Placement Assistance is offered, and limited housing is available for the first-year students.

Vital Statistics:

Founded: 1976, by Joe and Muriel Kubert


Located: Dover, New Jersey


Purpose: A 3-year residential school specializing in the development of professional cartoonists and artists.


Physical Facilities: An approximately 37,000 square foot building, formerly the Dover High School.


Equipment: We offer current computer hardware and software as well as individual art tables, a staffed reference library and more.


Class Size: Normally 15 to 20 students per class. Maximum class size is 25 students.


Instructors: All instructors have professional backgrounds in the subject they teach.


Class Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Approvals and Accreditation: Approved by the State of New Jersey Department of Education. Approved for the training of Veterans and Eligible Persons. An eligible institution under Government Insured Students Loans and Grants for those who qualify. Accredited by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. Authorized under Federal Law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. Member of Career College Association, Private Career Schools of New Jersey and Better Business Bureau of New Jersey
